Larry Carroll at MTV has written an article about Rob’s Spanish accent in Little Ashes. Here is a couple of snippets:
“I think it’s a credible Spanish accent,” praised Joel Goldes, a veteran dialect coach who has spent 18 years working with Nicolas Cage, Jim Broadbent, Jennifer Garner and other actors. Goldes said he was impressed by the London-born Pattinson. “I think if I didn’t know his background, I wouldn’t suspect anything.”
“Certainly it sounds like he learned exactly what to do, and he’s doing it well,” the dialect coach said. “These are hard accents to get. It seems to me that he should be able to do just about whatever he wants to do in the future, in terms of accents.”
From the clips we have seen, I have been so very impressed with Rob’s Spanish accent. I think he did such a wonderful job. It is so nice to hear him receive some well deserved praise from the above dialect coaches. I know I have said this so many times before but I have to say it again, I absolutely cannot wait to see Little Ashes. I really hope that we get the opportunity to see it in Australia very soon.

I hope more and more that we will have the chance to see this film here in Australia… it would be such a shame to miss out so egregiously on this one…
As for his Spanish accent, I think that being he British, 50/50 is pretty good, since Spanish and English are such different languages. If these accent experts say he’s credible, then Rob has done an outstanding job.
