I came across this fabulous review today of The Rover.  You know you can check out all the reviews (good and bad) at my roundup here, but it’s a slow news day and I wanted to share these wonderful words from Underrated & Underexposed:

“The Rover: Australian Gold

The surprise of the film was an impressive performance from Robert Pattinson. Being honest, I have never seen a Pattinson film as I had dismissed him as a glorified model. I was wrong. Simple characters are often difficult to portray, especially when they act as a foil, and the actor often comes off looking repetitive and unimaginative. Michod and Pattinson paired well together to bring Rey to life plausibly. This choice of film shows taste from Pattinson, which I hope will continue – he has earned the benefit of the doubt.”

It kind of still hurts that The Rover didn’t get the awards it deserved.

I agree @Silvie and I’ve had male family members tell me they loved The Rover more than Mad Max Fury Road. And there was no coercion from me. They also commented on how great Rob’s performance was.

“The Rover” I almost ripped my hair out when the luvvie club dismissed this brilliant and raw masterpiece, Rob was perfect as Rey he was, as always mesmerising. .But sadly these so called “movie critics” only froth at the mouth if a movie is big budget with cars trains people blowing up all over the place and little or no script. SFX are bigger and louder in each “Block Buster” as people are leaving the cinema they will be handed headache pills and a cool cloth for one’s head. “The Rover” was the best movie release of 2014. Rob was amazing how sad that this gem was overlooked why? it was so raw set in the not to future, wow look around we are seeing quite a lot of the story line now.
One day critics will wake up to the talent of Robert Pattinson, something we the fans have been aware of since the early days of ‘Twilight”
