Berlinale press release here (it has used Caitlin’s still)
Will update with more news to come.
“Corbijn’s Life, also receiving its world premiere, is inspired by the true story of a friendship that developed between Magnum photographer Dennis Stock (Pattinson) and actor James Dean (DeHaan) when Stock was commissioned to photograph the actor for Life magazine in 1955. See-Saw Films and First Generation Films produce from a script by Luke Davies (Candy). FilmNation is handling international sales.” [Aussies Transmission Films is the Australian distributor]
“Berlinale Special is a program you might compare to Toronto’s Gala Presentations—high profile movies a shade or two too populist for any other section of the festival. Screenings take place at swanky theaters far and away from Potsdamer Platz, the bustling center of most Berlinale activity. …
Berlinale Special Gala at the Zoo Palast
Anton Corbijn’s Life. With Robert Pattinson, Dane DeHaan, Joel Edgerton and Ben Kingsley. World premiere. Based on the friendship between Life photographer Dennis Stock (Pattison) and James Dean (DeHaan).”
““Life,†which world premieres in Berlin, stars Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan. Pic is inspired by the true story of a friendship that developed between Magnum photographer Dennis Stock and actor James Dean when Stock was commissioned to photograph the actor for LIFE magazine in 1955. Corbijn’s previous pics are “Control†and “A Most Wanted Man.—
“The Berlin International Film Festival bolsters its lineup with new films from Perry and ‘A Most Wanted Man’ director Anton Corbijn, and the international premiere of ‘Selma.’ … The fest also added Anton Corbijn’s “Life,” starring Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan. Dreamy casting. Generic title. Here’s the synopsis:
“LIFE is inspired by the true story of a friendship that developed between Magnum photographer Dennis Stock (Pattinson) and actor James Dean (DeHaan) when Stock was commissioned to photograph the actor for LIFE magazine in 1955. Stock was 26 and old before his time, when into his buttoned-down world came fledgling star James Dean, a free spirit who would change popular culture from suits to jeans and from matinee idols to teenage heartthrobs. The assignment, which took the pair on a photographic journey across the US, from LA to New York and on to Indiana would change Stock’s life and provide the world with some of the most iconic images of the age.””
“Well, the Berlin International Film Festival is quickly shaping up to have one of the best line-ups in recent history. Many films pundits had pegged for Cannes debuts are premiering in Germany instead. Yesterday, Werner Herzog’s much-anticipated “Queen Of The Desert†was announced as part of the festival, and today Anton Corbijn’s equally anticipated “Life,†starring Dane DeHaan and Robert Pattison, was added to the festival as well.”

OMG! Is it really that close???? I am having trouble absorbing this information.
So I’m away from technology for one night…..one night watching a Cronenberg/Pattinson double feature and Wham, I come home to movie premiers. Literally wham, nothing then everything. It must be a Rob thing. I am happy and excited for for Rob movies showing at Berlin but a little sad that we won’t have Rob at Cannes. BTW the theatre not overly crowded but lady at desk said it was an average Thursday night crowd.
Only severe self restraint and the fact that it’s 2.30 in the morning that I’m not running around the house screaming with absolute glee at this news – DON’T ANY ONE WAKE ME FROM THIS DREAM!!!!! OMFG!!!!
@Trish and @Carmel. Just think we’re getting trailers for both. How will we cope.
