Seeing as it’s only minimal screenings (24 cinemas), it’s holding on to no. 19 with $204,135 according to UrbanCine.  There has been zero promotion in Australia and I mean zero.  It’s going to be removed from most cinemas this week (the ones lucky enough to have actually screened it) so if you’ve put off seeing it, better get your skates on.

I feel sorry for the ones who really wanted to see it but weren’t near a cinema screening it.  It’s really frustrating when you actually want to support something, but are not given the opportunity.  Further example, not that we needed proof, that the dollar controls and drives everything.  Have to respect Cronenberg and Rob for not being controlled by that.

I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face – I totally loved this film and I hope Rob makes more like this with the exception that it has wider release for everyone to be able to enjoy.

It breaks my heart that I haven’t been able to contribute to this total :(.

*nods* agree with everything you’ve said Maria. It is so unfair that people like you Vicky who wanted to see the film sooooo very badly couldn’t because no cinemas close screened it 🙁 The DVD release needs to be here NOW.

The film really has done so well here considering. Only wish I could have done more to add to it’s totals. Love this film so so soooo much.

    So sad, @Vicky.

Makes me wonder what would happen without RPAU keeping so many of us informed. I really don’t get to the cinemas often to see posters of coming movies …… that’s what happened with Remember Me, we went o/s on holiday for 2 weeks and it was gone before I had the chance to see it. And God knows I wouldn’t have been any the wiser re Rob coming to Sydney last year if I didn’t read about it here ~ for which I’ll be forever grateful, you have no idea. (The papers covered the event as it happened, or AFTER it happened, but certainly not before.) 24 cinemas, no promotion ~ I think we should be proud it did as well as it did. I really hope the US continues to embrace it, so that it can have a decent run over there. Thanks Maria.

Ditto @maria…Well said. I consider myself lucky that I got to see it even once.

Well, at least it’s going to the most sought-after independent DVD of all time, right girls?
@Sue, you’re absolutely right. This site provides an invaluable source of info on Rob and all his film projects – a true fan site if there ever was one. I too, would not have known ‘Cosmopolis’ was even screening – ‘At the Movies’ is about my only contact with what’s up and coming and we all know the debacle THAT turned out to be. I only hope one day these amazing girls at RPAU are rewarded somehow (a personal thank you from Rob maybe?) for all their hard work and dedication.
